Technical Growth
Strengthen cybersecurity knowledge through applied learning, demonstrations, workshops, and collaborative practice.
GovState Student Chapter
The Women in CyberSecurity Student Chapter at Governors State University brings students together to learn, lead, connect, and grow. Whether you are exploring cybersecurity for the first time or building on existing experience, you belong in the conversation.
Together. We Thrive.
Our Purpose
WiCyS works to recruit, retain, and advance women in cybersecurity. The GovState student chapter supports that mission through education, mentorship, networking, outreach, awareness, and student engagement.
Women, allies, beginners, career changers, and experienced students are welcome. You do not need to have every answer or arrive with advanced technical skills. Curiosity, consistency, and a willingness to support others are strong starting points.
Why Participate
Chapter programming is designed to help students make meaningful progress in the classroom, in the cybersecurity community, and toward future careers.
Strengthen cybersecurity knowledge through applied learning, demonstrations, workshops, and collaborative practice.
Connect with peers, mentors, advocates, and allies who encourage learning and professional confidence.
Learn about scholarships, internships, job resources, career fairs, conferences, and other WiCyS opportunities.
Develop communication and leadership skills while helping expand cybersecurity awareness across campus and beyond.
What to Expect
This is a growing student chapter. Early participants will help establish the traditions, activities, and learning experiences that future members inherit.
