Arianna McGhee Selected for Cyber Threat Intelligence Internship

The GovState ACM Student Chapter is proud to congratulate Arianna McGhee on her acceptance into the Cyber Security Forum Initiative Cyber Threat Intelligence Internship Program for Fall 2026.

Arianna will serve as a Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst Intern within the organization’s Cyber Threat Intelligence Division. The internship will give her the opportunity to apply cybersecurity knowledge in a professional intelligence environment while developing experience in research, analysis, collaboration, and technical writing.

Investigating a Major Cybersecurity Threat

Arianna’s internship will focus on the evolving ransomware landscape. Her work will include structured research into ransomware groups, criminal ecosystems, attack campaigns, cyber extortion operations, and the organizational vulnerabilities that allow these threats to succeed.

She will examine the tactics, techniques, and procedures used by major ransomware operations. She will also study ransomware-as-a-service ecosystems, affiliate networks, access brokers, initial access methods, and the relationships that support modern ransomware campaigns.

Developing Professional Intelligence Skills

In addition to researching threat actors and campaigns, Arianna will evaluate ransomware mitigation strategies, incident response practices, business continuity measures, and approaches that strengthen organizational resilience against cyber extortion.

Her responsibilities will include preparing analytical memoranda, threat actor profiles, campaign assessments, and incident analyses. She will also participate in cohort discussions and briefings about cybercrime, ransomware operations, law-enforcement disruption efforts, and emerging cybersecurity threats.

Connecting Academic Learning to Cybersecurity Practice

The internship will place Arianna in a fully remote professional environment where she can collaborate with cybersecurity professionals and engage with perspectives from around the world. This experience will help her strengthen the investigative judgment, analytical writing, communication, and threat intelligence skills valued across the cybersecurity profession.

Opportunities of this kind allow students to move beyond studying cybersecurity concepts and begin applying them to complex, evolving threats. They also provide meaningful exposure to the standards, expectations, and collaborative practices of professional cybersecurity work.

Leading While Building Her Own Career

Arianna’s achievement is especially meaningful because of her service as president of Girls Who Code. Through her leadership, she helps encourage students to participate in computing, develop technical confidence, and see themselves as future technology professionals.

Her internship demonstrates the connection between student leadership, academic preparation, and career development. As Arianna continues building her own cybersecurity career, her progress also provides an encouraging example for other students preparing to pursue internships and professional opportunities.
